Juicy stone fruit and bright citrus meet resinous pine, floral lift, and a distinctly dank hop character over a soft, pillowy body. Pinthouse Brewing 'Training Bines' India Pale Ale Beer is a 7% Hazy IPA built around Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic, with a small addition of New Zealand Motueka bringing another aromatic dimension to its hop-driven profile. Rather than emphasizing aggressive bitterness, Pinthouse shapes the beer around hop quality, saturated aroma, rounded texture, and drinkability, reflecting the brewery's longstanding focus on expressive American hop varieties and close relationships with hop growers.

Sensory Description:

Expressive aromas of orange, grapefruit, stone fruit, tropical papaya, and gooseberry unfold alongside floral, piney, and dank resinous notes. The palate is soft and pillowy, with juicy fruit character and citrus brightness supported by moderate sweetness and deliberately restrained bitterness. Resinous hop tones define the fruit, while the rounded texture carries citrus, stone fruit, and lingering aromatic hop character through an easygoing, nuanced finish.

Brewer's Background:

Founded by six friends with a shared interest in craft beer and food, Pinthouse grew from its Austin brewpub roots into an independently owned brewery recognized particularly for hop-forward American beer. Co-founder Joe Mohrfeld has played a central role in the brewing program and today serves as President of Brewing. The brewery combines brewing science with a strong agricultural focus, maintaining direct relationships with hop growers and making regular selection trips to the Yakima Valley to evaluate individual hop lots. Training Bines reflects that philosophy directly, placing hop quality and expression at the center of the beer while keeping bitterness measured and the overall profile highly drinkable.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at approximately 7 to 10 degrees Celsius in an IPA or tulip glass to concentrate its citrus, tropical fruit, floral, and resinous aromatics while preserving its soft texture. Pair with spicy fried chicken, tacos, burgers, barbecue, pizza, Thai curries, or sharp cheddar, where the beer's juicy hop character and restrained bitterness can complement spice and richness without overwhelming the food.
