The Tyrconnell brand was born in 1876 when local distiller A.A. Watt created a whiskey to celebrate the unexpected triumph of the chestnut colt, Tyrconnell, in the National Produce Stakes. What began as a one-time release quickly became Watt’s most popular whiskey, eventually rising to fame as one of Ireland’s best-selling brands before Prohibition. Today, The Tyrconnell is produced by the Kilbeggan Distilling Company, one of the proud guardians of Irish whiskey tradition.
