Fresh red cherry, crushed raspberry, rose petal, and forest floor introduce 2024 Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir, a vibrant expression of Pinot Noir from one of Oregon’s most historic vineyard families. Produced by Jim Maresh from fruit grown on the family’s celebrated Dundee Hills vineyards, this wine reflects a lineage of farming that began when the Maresh family planted vines in the early 1970s. Through Arterberry Maresh, Jim Maresh continues the family’s legacy of transparent, vineyard-driven Pinot Noir rooted in careful farming and restrained winemaking.

Sensory Description:

2024 Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir shows lifted aromatics of red cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and rose petal with subtle hints of orange peel and spice. The palate carries bright red fruit layered with notes of tea leaf, earth, and delicate baking spice. Fine tannins and lively acidity give the wine structure while preserving its elegance and transparency. The overall style emphasizes purity and finesse, finishing with lingering red fruit and a gentle mineral thread characteristic of Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills.

Winemaker’s Background:

The Maresh family is among the pioneering winegrowing families of Oregon. In 1970, Jim Maresh’s parents, Jim and Loie Maresh, planted the original Maresh Vineyard, making it one of the earliest vineyards established in the Dundee Hills. Today Jim Maresh farms these historic plantings along with neighboring parcels while producing wines under the Arterberry Maresh label, named in honor of family lineage. Working with fruit from old vines and practicing careful vineyard stewardship, Jim focuses on minimal intervention in the cellar so that each wine reflects the character of the vineyard and vintage.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly cool, around 55 to 60°F, in a Burgundy bowl to allow the wine’s delicate aromatics to expand. Its bright acidity and refined structure pair beautifully with roasted salmon, duck breast, mushroom dishes, herb-roasted chicken, and lightly grilled pork. The wine can be enjoyed upon release for its freshness but will also reward short-term cellaring as its savory complexity evolves.
