Sensory Description:

Pale gold in color, this expressive Sancerre opens with aromas of grapefruit, green apple, gooseberry, white flowers, and delicate notes of mango and white peach. The palate is crisp and refreshing, offering impressive volume balanced by precise acidity and classic Loire Valley minerality. Layers of citrus, orchard fruit, and subtle exotic fruit glide across the palate before giving way to a chalky, saline finish marked by freshness, persistence, and remarkable purity. Time spent on the lees adds texture and depth while preserving the wine’s vibrant character.

Winemaker's Background:

The Sautereau family has been producing wine in Crézancy-en-Sancerre since 1683, making this one of the region’s enduring family estates. Today, David Sautereau leads the tenth generation, farming vineyards across Crézancy, Bue, and Sancerre. The estate’s diverse mix of caillottes, Kimmeridgian limestone, and clay soils provides added complexity and depth, elevating the wines beyond a typical entry-level Sancerre. Through sustainable vineyard practices, a commitment to organic farming, and careful cellar work, Domaine Sautereau consistently crafts wines that reflect the distinctive character of its Loire Valley origins.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled at 48–52°F (9–11°C). This classic Sancerre pairs beautifully with goat cheese salads, oysters, prawns, grilled trout, grilled white fish, sushi, shellfish, and light poultry dishes. Its bright acidity and mineral backbone also make it an excellent aperitif.
