Winemaker’s Background:

The Leitz family has deep roots in Rüdesheim am Rhein, where Josef Leitz rebuilt the family winery after its destruction during the Second World War. Johannes Leitz assumed responsibility for the estate in 1985 after training as a master vintner, beginning with just 2.9 hectares and developing the property into one of the Rheingau's established producers. Today the estate manages approximately 90 hectares across the Rheingau, with a particular focus on its steep Rüdesheim vineyards, while Johannes' son Antonius represents the next generation of the family. Leitz combines modern cellar technology with traditional winemaking and has extended that philosophy to the EINS-ZWEI-ZERO collection, producing conventional base wines before removing their alcohol through low-temperature vacuum distillation designed to preserve aroma and varietal character.
