Flowing from the gravelly soils of Bordeaux’s famed Entre-Deux-Mers region, the 2025 Mary Taylor ‘Jean Marc Barthez’ Blanc captures the elegance and freshness that make white Bordeaux one of France’s best-kept secrets. Crafted by Jean Marc Barthez, president of a small cooperative winery in the historic village of Monségur, this vibrant blend showcases Sauvignon Blanc through a distinctly Bordelais lens, combining crisp citrus-driven energy with the texture and subtle complexity that define the region’s finest dry whites.

Sensory Description:

The 2025 growing season preserved exceptional freshness and aromatic precision. Bright aromas of gooseberry, guava, lime zest, melon, quinine, and fresh tarragon rise from the glass, complemented by hints of citrus blossom and wet stone. The palate is lively and mineral-driven, delivering flavors of lemon, melon, and crisp orchard fruit layered over vibrant acidity. A small addition of Sémillon contributes extra texture and depth, creating a richer mouthfeel than many varietal Sauvignon Blancs while maintaining remarkable freshness. The finish is clean, elegant, and subtly savory with lingering citrus and mineral notes.

Winemaker's Background:

Mary Taylor Wines was founded with a mission to reconnect wine lovers with the importance of place. Rather than focusing on grape varieties, the portfolio highlights traditional European appellations and the growers who faithfully represent them. For this bottling, Mary Taylor partners with Jean Marc Barthez, an artisan winemaker and president of a cooperative in the ancient village of Monségur. Located in Bordeaux’s Entre-Deux-Mers sub-region between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, the vineyards benefit from gravel-rich soils that produce some of France’s most distinctive dry white wines. Through sustainable farming and minimal intervention winemaking, Barthez captures the authentic character of this historic terroir.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well chilled at 45–50°F (7–10°C). This classic Bordeaux Blanc pairs well with fresh oysters, chilled shellfish platters, pan-seared trout, grilled fish, lobster, crab cakes, goat cheese salads, and herb-roasted chicken. Its bright acidity and mineral structure also make it an excellent aperitif.
