Dark blackcurrant and fresh tobacco rise from the glass, layered with violet florals and polished oak. 2023 Mocali Cabernet Sauvignon Maremma Toscana captures the Mediterranean warmth and mineral depth of its coastal vineyards, crafted entirely from estate-grown fruit and aged in French barriques to refine structure and expression. Produced under the careful supervision of the Mocali family, it reflects a philosophy of hands-on stewardship and balanced, terroir-driven winemaking.

Sensory Description:

2023 Mocali Cabernet Sauvignon Maremma Toscana presents an intense ruby red hue and a layered aromatic profile of blackcurrant, fresh tobacco leaf, wildflowers, and subtle wood spice. The palate is structured yet supple, with velvety tannins framing ripe dark fruit and well-integrated oak. Mineral undertones drawn from marl and sandstone soils lend definition and freshness, while balanced acidity carries the wine through a persistent, fruit-driven finish. The combination of stainless steel fermentation and measured barrel aging results in a Cabernet that is both polished and expressive, capturing the warmth and depth typical of coastal Tuscany while maintaining clarity and poise.

Winemaker’s Background:

The Mocali estate is located southwest of Montalcino, surrounded by Mediterranean forest and panoramic vineyard landscapes. Spanning approximately 43 hectares, with 12 hectares dedicated to specialized vineyards, the estate is rich in mineral soils alternating with limestone. The entire production cycle is managed directly by the family, ensuring continuity of tradition and quality. Combining historic stone cellars with modern technology, Mocali produces wines that are exported worldwide and recognized for their authenticity, structure, and sense of place.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit in a Bordeaux-style glass to highlight its structure and aromatic complexity. Pair with aged cheeses, aromatic cured meats, truffle dishes, roasted meats, grilled pork, or hearty pasta with wild mushroom and herb accents.
