Sensory Description:

The aromatics open with white peach, pear, lemon zest, and white flowers, layered with hints of crushed stone and fresh herbs. The palate is carried by bright acidity and a supple texture developed through extended lees contact, bringing notes of citrus, orchard fruit, and subtle savory complexity. A mineral thread and saline edge retain focus through the finish, while the blend’s combination of Spanish varieties adds depth, freshness, and persistence without excess weight.

Winemaker’s Background:

Orixe Sotelo was inspired by a personal exploration of the Sotelo family name and its historical connection to Galicia in northwestern Spain. That discovery led to a broader examination of the intertwined histories of Spain, Mexico, and California, and ultimately to a project centered on cultivating Spanish grape varieties in California. Drawing on experience gained during harvest work in Ribera del Duero and extensive travel throughout Spain, the producer seeks to highlight parallels between Iberian and Californian landscapes while creating wines that offer a new perspective on California viticulture through Spanish varieties and winemaking influences.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius in a medium-sized white wine glass to emphasize aromatic detail and mineral precision. Pair with oysters, grilled white fish, shellfish, roasted chicken, fresh cheeses, or Mediterranean-inspired dishes featuring olive oil, herbs, and citrus.
