The independence heroes illustrated on Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal Joven identify more than a distinctive bottle: its three label designs distinguish the producing families and communities behind this Espadín expression. Made in Oaxaca, Mexico, Doba-Yej preserves those separate origins rather than blending across families. Earthen-oven cooking, tahona milling and copper-pot distillation produce a mezcal with bright citrus, fragrant agave and smoke, equally comfortable in a tasting glass or a carefully mixed cocktail.

Sensory Description:

Lime and orange aromas mingle with floral notes, baked apple and pear, framed by a measured smokiness. Sweet cooked agave anchors the palate, with herbal, earthy and mineral accents adding depth. Some productions reveal a dried-chilli warmth, while the rounded texture carries citrus and lingering smoke through the finish. Individual batches reflect the character of their maker and place of production.

Distiller's Background:

Brothers Eduardo and Julio Mestre founded Los Siete Misterios in 2010 to celebrate traditional mezcal production and the Oaxacan communities that sustain it. Working with local maestros mezcaleros, the brand preserves distinct production methods and regional identities across its range. Doba-Yej, whose name means Espadín agave in Zapotec, introduced a copper-distilled expression alongside the brand’s clay-pot mezcals, bringing that heritage into both sipping and cocktail service.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at cool room temperature in a small copita or tulip-shaped spirits glass, allowing a few moments for the aromas to develop. For a refreshing longer drink, combine with tonic water over ice and garnish with orange or lemon. Its citrus and agave character also works well in Margaritas and Palomas.
