Effie’s Homemade grew from a generations-old Nova Scotia farmhouse oatcake recipe that Effie MacLellan brought to Massachusetts in the 1950s. Her daughter Joan MacIsaac and Joan’s longtime friend Irene Costello founded the company in 2007 to share the family biscuit tradition.
