Fresh strawberry, pink grapefruit, and jasmine blossom leap from the glass in the 2024 Casa Jipi Barbera Rosé, a vibrant Baja rosado that balances precision with easygoing charm. Crafted from sustainably farmed Barbera grown at Rancho Llano Colorado in Valle de San Vicente, the wine reflects the collaborative spirit behind Casa Jipi, a project born from friendship, resilience, and a shared desire to redefine modern Mexican wine. Guided by acclaimed winemaker Lourdes “Lulu” Martinez Ojeda, the wine captures both the energy of Valle de Guadalupe and the elegance of restrained, low-intervention winemaking.

Sensory Description:

Pale salmon-pink in color, the wine opens with lifted aromas of wild strawberry, pink grapefruit, lychee, and white jasmine flowers, layered with subtle wet stone minerality. The palate is light-bodied and sharply focused, driven by crisp acidity and a bone-dry finish. Fresh raspberry, citrus peel, and delicate floral notes glide across a lean, energetic frame, while the stainless steel élevage preserves purity and freshness. The result is a refreshing rosé with vibrant tension and elegant Mediterranean character.

Producer’s Background:

Casa Jipi emerged as a collaborative Baja California wine project uniting Rancho Llano Colorado, Vinícola Bruma, and celebrated Mexican winemaker Lourdes “Lulu” Martinez Ojeda. The project was born during a challenging period that brought together two families, two valleys, and a shared philosophy centered on expressive, site-driven wines. Lulu Martinez Ojeda, one of the leading figures in modern Mexican wine, spent nearly a decade working at Château Brane-Cantenac before returning to Ensenada to bridge French winemaking traditions with the evolving identity of Baja California. Through Casa Jipi, the team crafts vibrant, contemporary wines that reflect both the region’s raw energy and Mexico’s growing international wine reputation.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well chilled at 46–50°F in a universal white wine glass to highlight the wine’s floral aromatics and crisp acidity. Excellent with grilled shrimp, ceviche, Mediterranean salads, fresh goat cheese, tuna crudo, or light vegetable dishes. Its refreshing profile also makes it an ideal aperitif for warm-weather gatherings.
