Winemaker's Background:

The story of Château d'Astros dates back over eight centuries to the era of the Knights Templar. The estate, located on the fertile plains of the Argens, was developed through the centuries by the Knights of Malta and later by the Marseille-based Maurel family, who acquired the land in 1802. The château itself was built in 1860, modeled after Tuscan villas, and the estate transitioned into rosé-focused winemaking in the 20th century. Today, Bruno Maurel, a priest and youth educator, leads the eighth generation, joined by his nieces and nephews, with a deep commitment to organic farming and preserving the estate’s heritage.
